Emma
Emma, the latest film adaptation by Autumn de Wilde is a feast for the eyes and a welcome respite during this global pandemic. Since we are staying home and social distancing, do yourself a favor and pour yourself a liberal glass of wine, call up your best friend and make it a virtual date! Just like I did the other night with my kindred, period film devotee friend Breck from Sesame Letterpress. Sit back and enjoy this well loved story but watch it a second time to take in the COLOR. The palette is a pastel Jordan Almond, French macaroon, trim and tassel, cake and candy filled feminine dream. I have been trying in vain to find the designer who is responsible for the gorgeous, natural flowers which to me (of course!) make every interior come to life. The sets and costumes are so exquisite they took my breath away.
Here are some highlights I pulled off the web and mixed them up with flower inspiration. I can’t wait to get my hands on flowers again!!! One day I will do an extensive blog post on my favorite films where flowers are prominently featured - Emma, will certainly be high on the list!
Architectural Digest did a wonderful story explaining the set decoration with insight from the production designer Kave Quinn and set decorator Stella Fox, calling it a bright and colorful dollhouse of a set. Amazing job by all. Note the pink ostrich plumes tucked into the mantel flowers - adding to the frothy feel. So sweet my teeth started to ache.
Can we all start draping ivy around picture frames? And who noticed the flowers laid out on the table in Emma’s bedroom? Emma is a hobby florist for sure.
